Andrew Joseph Mora ~ 1982 - 2020

Andrew (Andy) Joseph Mora, 37, passed peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at Renown Hospital. He was born on December 15, 1982, in Reno, Nevada to Andrew and Kristie Mora.
Andy was a life-long athlete and a member of the 1999-2000 Zone Championship Basketball team for South Tahoe High School, playing one last season for the Vikings before graduating in 2001. Following high school, Andy attended San Francisco State University and later transferred to Chico State University where he earned a BA in Kinesiology and Physical Education in 2007. While working with youth basketball programs in Chico, Andy continued his education and earned his Master of Arts, Kinesiology with an Emphasis in Pedagogy in 2009. After earning his Masters, Andy taught PE throughout Northern California and spent countless hours coaching basketball and volleyball to middle school girls and boys. In the summer of 2018, Andy returned to Chico State where he completed the adapted PE authorization program, allowing him to specialize his PE classes for special needs students. His commitment to his students was unparalleled.
He is survived by Andy Sr. and Jody; brother, Matt and his family Chelsey, Madison and Easton; sister, Nicole and her family Eric, Kasey, Alyssa and Tyler; grandmother, Jadwiga Bala, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Andy is preceded in death by his mother Kristie, his uncle Chris and several grandparents.
All those whose lives were touched by Andy are invited to attend a memorial and celebration of life on Saturday, February 15, at 1:00 p.m. at Sierra Community Church. In celebration of Andy Mora's life, gifts may be sent to The University Foundation, CSU Chico to benefit a scholarship in the physical education teacher education program.
