One route between South and North Lake Tahoe now open

Caltrans has opened SR-89 along the west shore of Lake Tahoe, enabling motorists to travel between the north and south end of the lake without having a multi-hour detour.
Highway 50 at Logan Creek on the east shore is still closed due to an unstable hillside above the road.
Crews from Caltrans and private contractors are working on clearing several mudslides near Kyburz and Sand Flat. The road will remained closed during the day on Monday but could open by evening if progress is made and travel is determined to be safe. It could be longer, so those needing to travel west should plan other routes.
