South Lake Tahoe sets record highs 11 of first 18 days in February

The record high temperature of 64 in South Lake Tahoe on Wednesday gave the area its 11th day of record heat for the month of February (and that's just in 18 days!)

With an average low of 17 degrees and an average high of 42 degrees, the 50 and 60 degrees days at the lake have been far above average.

According to records kept by the National Weather Service (weather.gov) and intellicast.com, the following data shows the days this month records were set along with the previous high.

February 1 - Record high set at 59, former record was 56 set in 1995.
February 3 - Record high set at 59, former record was 53 set in 1984.
February 4 - Record high set at 62, former record was 55 set in 2007.
February 5 - Record high set at 60, former record was 59 set in 1980.
February 6 - Record high set at 58, former record was 55 set in 2007.
February 11- Record high set at 54, former record was 52 set in 1971.
February 12- Record high set at 61, former record was 57 set in 1977.
February 13- Record high set at 65, former record was 57 set in 1971.
February 14- Record high set at 62, former record was 56 set in 1976.
February 17- Record high set at 63, former record was 55 set in 2007.
February 18- Record high set at 64, former record was 55 set in 1977.

Thursday's high is forecast to be 61, just shy of the record of 62 set in 1977.
