Expect delays on I-80 westbound as Caltrans closes lanes near Colfax

Caltrans is alerting motorists to expect delays on westbound Interstate 80 northeast of Colfax as work to perform a number of different maintenance operations will result in delays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 1 and Thursday, March 2.
The right lane of Interstate 80 from just east of Secret Town to Colfax, approximately 7 miles, will be closed to perform guardrail repair and maintenance as well as other maintenance tasks. Because there are only two lanes on this length of Interstate 80, motorists are likely to experience traffic delays and are encouraged to plan for additional travel time through the area. California Highway Patrol will be escorting traffic through the work zone to keep speeds safe for Caltrans workers on this curvy, steep stretch of freeway.
Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work.
Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic conditions, click on Caltrans QuickMap at: http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/
