City awards OnCourse Events a five year contract for Live at Lakeview

Live at Lakeview is now classified as a signature event for the City of South Lake Tahoe, and once that was clarified during Tuesday's City Council meeting, Rob Guistina's business OnCourse Events, was awarded a five year contract to put on the Thursday night concert series.

Since the city is actually giving the event about $41,500 in waived venue charges ($650 a week), in kind services of parks, streets and public safety personnel, and cash.

OnCourse Events was given $5,000 to organize Live at Lakeview as well. Citing the lateness of the awarding of the contract, Guistina told the Council that March is too late to secure a large sponsor and he needed the extra to get the acts booked.

Over the past two years they received $2,500 each year to put on the event. Orginally Guistina had asked for $5,000 per year, but after discussion over the five year contract, it was decided that $2,500 a year for years two through five would suffice since there is now plenty of time to procure sponsors.

The City's main concern was the clarification of where their name would go since it is now a signature event.

Live at Lakeview is a city event and they are not sponsoring it so they asked for top billing on all posters and advertisements.
