Casinos did well in February - South Shore Lake Tahoe up 21% over a year ago

STATELINE, Nev. - Nevada’s nonrestricted gaming licensees reported a total “gaming win” of $1,042,627,516 for the month of February 2020. This amounts to a 3.05 percent increase compared to February 2019, when licensees reported a gaming win of $1,011,785,879 according to the monthly report released today by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Casinos on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe had a "win" of $17,684,615, up 21.36 percent from February 2019. In January, the South Shore casinos also experienced an increase from the prior year, 5.48 percent.
These figures are all from casinos prior to their closing in March due to the coronavirus.
The "gaming win" represents the computed income of casinos before business expenses and taxes.
Casinos on the South Shore had a big gain, but not the biggest gain in the state. North Lake Tahoe casinos were up 48.13 percent and Reno up 30.17 percent.
The rest of Douglas County and Carson City had a "win" of $8,812,362, a 17.11 percent decline.
The State collected $68,945,001 in percentage fees during the month of February, up 15.59 percent.
In the last 12 months, South Shore casinos have reported a win of $68,942,000 on table games, $162,829,000 on slot machines, $3,219,000 on football games and $1,493,000 on basketball games.
