Summer in South Lake Tahoe means being outdoors and enjoying life, and the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino announced today one more thing to enjoy: more outdoor concerts.
A temporary 7,500 seat outdoor area is being created on the back parking lot of Hard Rocky Hotel & Casino in Lake Tahoe in order to host the “BaseJam Summer 2015 Outdoor Concert Series.”
A summer full of concerts at the new casino on the South Shore will start with the 3rd Annual Lake Tahoe Reggae Festival on June 27. Also booked is the Lake Tahoe Bluegrass Festival which is slated for July 11.
3rd Annual Lake Tahoe Reggae Festival
The all-day reggae festival returns to Tahoe featuring an impressive lineup of artists including: co-headliners, Iration and Matisyahu. Also performing are top reggae groups including: The Green, Don Carlos, Fortunate Youth, Vokab Kompany and Squarefield Massive from Sacramento, California.
Iration is an alternative, reggae group who’s 2010 release “Time Bomb” hit No. 1 on the iTunes Reggae album chart. The band's EP releases include “New Roots” (2006), “Sample This EP” (2008) and “Fresh Grounds” (2011). Iration has headlined several successful national club tours and performed at top national festivals including Lollapalooza. Their third full-length album, “Automatic,” combines elements of reggae, rock and pop to create a truly unique listening experience. “Automatic” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Reggae charts.
Matisyahu first made a name for himself with his album “Live at Stubbs” and his follow up album, “Youth.” Both albums subsequently went gold and “Youth” was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. Matisyahu went on to release the album “Light” in 2009 that reached No. 1 on the Reggae Albums chart and stayed in the top spot for 34 weeks. His fourth studio album, “Spark Seeker,” also debuted at No. 1 on the Reggae charts. Lake Tahoe Reggae Festival goers will also hear Matisyahu perform songs from his fifth album, “Akeda.”
“The festival has such a massive following it was just natural to have this talented group of musicians as the opener to our summer concert series,” said Jim Ward, interim general manager of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe. “We’re looking forward to hosting these phenomenal artists, locals and visitors of all ages, for a great day of outdoor music, food and fun at Tahoe.”
Lake Tahoe Bluegrass Festival
The inaugural Lake Tahoe Bluegrass Festival brings together Grammy-award winning musicians and artists for an all-day music event. The initial lineup includes: Greensky Bluegrass, The Del McCoury Band, Jerry Douglas’ Earls of Leicester, winner of the 2015 Grammy for Best Bluegrass album, The David Grisman Sextet and New Monsoon.
“We’re thrilled to bring such a power packed lineup of top bluegrass musicians to South Shore and to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe this summer. With the quality of these artists, we’re anticipating the Lake Tahoe Bluegrass Festival will become a mainstay on the Lake Tahoe summer concert circuit for years to come,” said Paul Reder, president of PR Entertainment, Inc., a national entertainment and sports production company that is co-presenting the BaseJam Summer 2015 Outdoor Concert Series with the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe.
