A pair of storm systems will impact the Lake Tahoe region this week bringing wind, rain, snow, and cooler temperatures, the National Weather Service in Reno reports.
The first low will dig down the Pacific coast and push into the region Tuesday night into Wednesday. Ahead of the system, winds will be gusty Tuesday afternoon with gusts of 40 to 45 mph expected. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms Tuesday night into Wednesday as the system moves inland. This system will usher in a cooler air mass with high temperatures Wednesday and Thursday about 5 to 10 degrees below normal.
A second system will push into the area Thursday night into Friday, bringing a reinforcing shot of cold air and additional chances for precipitation. The southerly flow of both systems is not the best for precipitation, but the Sierra will see accumulating snow with showers for Western Nevada valleys.
