The Genoa Cowboy Festival will be held in historic Genoa, Nevada April 30-May 3, 2015. It is a blend of a scenic setting, entertainment, heritage and Western culture. Nestled at the base of the Sierra Nevada, historic Genoa is the site of the first ranch in Nevada and still has working cattle ranches literally steps from the center of town.

From its 19th century beginnings, cowboys and ranching have shared work, words and music there. You’d be hard pressed to find a better place to celebrate the unique forms of Cowboy Music, Cowboy Poetry, Old West history and the Western lifestyle.

The Genoa Cowboy Festival made its entrance into the world of festivals in 2010 with the tremendous efforts of the Town of Genoa and a host of volunteers and supporters. Thousands of folks have made their way to the shows, dinners, galleries and workshops. Both attendees and performers comment often about this event with high praise and a willingness to return again and again.

Musical and historical entertainment is the highlight of the festival. They include portrayers Kim Copel as Stagecoach driver Charley Parkhurst and Madame Julia Bulette, Diana Borges performs a Chautauqua style portrayal of Sarah Winnemucca, McAvoy Lane as Mark Twain as well as musicians Lacy J. Dalton and the Dalton Gang, The Western Flyers and Mike Beck. For a full list of entertainment, visit their website.

The festival also has front porch country jam sessions, harmonica lessons, Dangberg Ranch tours a, BBQ & Barn Dance and Cowboy Church. Some events during the event are free and others have a fee involved. All schedules and tickets are available at www.genoacowboyfestival.org.

On Sunday, May 3, the final day of the festival happens along with the town's monthly Genoa Sweet Sippin' Sunday.
