Windy conditions ahead as storm front to push through Lake Tahoe and Sierra

A cutoff low will move into the Sierra and Western Nevada on Wednesday bringing increased chances for precipitation and gusty winds, according to the National Weather Service in Reno. Some showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Sierra today.
Winds will begin to increase during the day on Wednesday with choppy conditions on Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Lake in the afternoon. By Wednesday night into Thursday, temperatures will drop between 10 to 15 degrees and southwest winds will increase with gusts between 40 to 50 mph possible. With cooler temperatures in place a few inches of snow is possible above 8,000 feet in the Sierra, according to the weather service.
