Agave Azul is the newest family owned and operated authentic Mexican restaurant on the South Shore. Owners Pedro and Juillermina Mendez and their son Jose Mendez invite the public to join them for a Cinco de Mayo Tahoe Chamber ribbon cutting on May 5, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m..
Agave Azul will offer $5 margaritas and patron shots, and 50% off appetizers as part of the special celebration.
Having owned and operated several Mexican restaurants in California over the past forty years, the Mendez family wanted to open a restaurant in Lake Tahoe after Jose Mendez made a visit to the area with his daughter. He fell in love with Tahoe’s natural beauty and friendly locals and reported back to his parents that it would be the ideal place to open another of their family restaurants.
“The people in Tahoe are wonderful, beautiful people. They have a great positivity and are very welcoming,” Mendez said. “The location felt like it was meant to be. It was the perfect location, perfect town, and we were lucky to find a place that was turn-key for a restaurant.”
Agave Azul‘s food is 100 percent homemade and prepared in the restaurant with fresh ingredients. They pride themselves on their fresh sauces, handmade corn tortillas, and great selection of cocktails made with fresh squeezed limes and other seasonable fruits.
The family wants the restaurant to be known for the passion that is put into the menu, the personable service, and family oriented business environment where the staff are part of the family. Jose Mendez is excited to become a staple in the Tahoe community.
We’ve had a great reception from locals,” Mendez said. “I think we’ll settle into to the Tahoe Life pretty well”
Agave Azul Mexican Grill is currently open from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and is located at 177 Highway 50 in Stateline, NV. For more information, call (775) 586-8153
