Change to the weather pattern: Rain and thunderstorm in Lake Tahoe forecast

Warm conditions will give way to much cooler temperatures Friday through the weekend as low pressure moves into northeast California and western Nevada. A cold front will produce stronger winds from the north on Friday which may result in areas of blowing dust, choppy lakes, and the potential for some fire weather concerns.

Cool and showery conditions will continue into next week with slight chances for thunderstorms according to the National Weather Service in Reno. The active pattern may continue into the following weekend with yet another trough possibly moving into the west, so rain for the Amgen TOC cycling race in Lake Tahoe is a possibility.

Tonight - Partly cloudy, with a low around 36. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Friday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 59. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon.

Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 34. East wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Saturday -A chance of showers between 11am and 1pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 59. East wind around 5 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday Night - A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming south in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
