Soroptimist of South Lake Tahoe club awards $21,000 in scholarships

The Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe club awarded students from Lake Tahoe Community College, South Tahoe High and Whittell High School with $21,000 in scholarships during their annual Rewards for Excellence Scholarship program Wednesday.

This year there were 60 applicants for the scholarships, narrowed down to 35 students with interviews, then the final 22 awardees. The club has their major fundraising event, An Evening of Food and Wine Tasting, each fall on the South Shore.
