A pedestrian was reportedly hit by a vehicle at Highway 50 at the Zephyr Cove Lodge at about 3:30 Friday afternoon. The victim was said to be conscious but bleeding from the head. Three vehicles are said to be involved in the accident, according to Douglas County dispatch.
Traffic controls are in place in the westbound lane headed into Lake Tahoe and the eastbound lane of Highway 50 toward Spooner Summit. A CalStar medical helicopter from South Lake Tahoe was unavailable because of snow and visibility. The victim was instead to be transported by ambulance to Barton Memorial Hospital.
It is unknown how many of the three vehicles involved collided with the victim. Paramedics on the scene report there were possibly other injuries that resulted from the vehicle collisions.
