Public invited to Lake Tahoe Community College Commencement

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. The entire community is warmly invited to Lake Tahoe Community College’s annual Commencement Ceremony on Friday, June 28 at 6:00 p.m. on LTCC’s soccer field, located next to the Physical Education building on campus.

No tickets are required to attend Commencement, and community members, students and family members are all welcome. Ample seating will be available, along with large projector screens to make the ceremony easily visible from anywhere on LTCC’s field. Parking on campus is free, and ample. For those who cannot attend, LTCC will livestream the entire ceremony at www.ltcc.edu/graduation.

Approximately 207 students are graduating with Associate degrees from LTCC this year. Nineteen students are graduating with highest honors, which requires a 4.0 GPA. Another 61 students are graduating with honors, which requires a GPA between 3.65 and 3.99. Of the 207 AA degree earners, 124 are receiving one of 13 LTCC transfer degrees, which guarantees students a seat as a junior at a California State University this fall. Also being honored at the ceremony are LTCC’s vocational certificate earners. These 47 students took coursework in a number of specialized fields, earning a career-focused certificate in the process.

The keynote address this year will be delivered by Paul Osincup, a former college educator, counselor, and university administrator who now uses his background in standup comedy and improv to entertain audiences on how positivity contributes to productivity. His TEDx Talk, “Leading with Laughter: The Power of Humor in Leadership,” has been viewed more than 200,000 times. Osincup is on a “mission of global workplace happiness,” speaking internationally as an expert on how to apply humor to reduce stress, build resilience, increase influence, and boost personal happiness. Osincup is also a content creator for the mental health and well-being app Happify. He serves as president of the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor, an international organization dedicated to the study and application of humor to enhance health and human performance. Osincup's work has been highlighted in Forbes, Success magazine, Readers Digest, and reportedly on his mother's refrigerator for all to see.
