Local man arrested for South Lake Tahoe bank robbery

The investigation of Friday's bank robbery at the Al Tahoe branch of El Dorado Savings led to the identification of Gabriel Antonio Evans, 36, of South Lake Tahoe as the suspect.

Detectives secured an arrest warrant for Evans and a search warrant for his residence in the 3000 block of Riverside Avenue. Due to Evan’s past violent criminal history, the SWAT team was employed to make the arrest. Officers, assisted by the FBI, arrested Evans at his residence at 7:45 p.m. this evening.

The search of Evan’s residence is in progress at this time. He has been taken to the South Lake Tahoe Police station for further investigation and will be booked into the El Dorado County Jail on the charge of robbery.
