Fire closes I-80 in Sparks

Interstate 80 is closed in both directions from Patrick to Wadsworth due to wild fires and poor visibility according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Westbound traffic is being diverted at Derby Dam and eastbound traffic is being diverted at Mustang.
The Earthstone Fire started at 1:30 p.m. Monday and it is now at 3,000 acres according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.
Golden Eagle Regional Park in Sparks is closed while crews work on the brush fire near Belmar/Earthstone in Sparks.
Smoke has been seen billowing over portions of Sparks all afternoon. Earlier evacuations have been canceled. The cause of the fire is unknown.
