Burlap & Denim BBQ party and ranch tour for Bread & Broth 4 Kids

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Bread & Broth is putting the "fun" back into fundraising and bringing back their unique Burlap & Denim BBQ and Ranch Tour on Saturday, August 24 from noon to 4:00 p.m.

The historic 100-acre Celio Ranch in Meyers is where the fun will happen - live music, dancing, games, entertainment, guided ranch tours, raffles, silent auction, western selfie booth and horse rides! The South Lake Tahoe Firefighter's Association will be barbequing delicious tri-tip. The event is raising funds for the Bread & Broth 4 Kids program that began in 2015 and provides weekend food packs for children facing food insecurity. Over 170 children in grades K-8 in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District receive seven individual meals, four snacks, and fresh fruit each weekend during the school year. Summer food packs are also distributed each week during the summer; last summer an average of 225 bags were distributed to food insecure children each week. In addition, over 1,500 nutritious snack bars per month are provided for students at all K-12 schools in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District.

The fundraiser begins at 12:00 p.m. at one of Tahoe's earliest dairy and cattle ranches, Celio Ranch. The ranch is located beside the Upper Truckee River in Meyers on South Upper Truckee Road. This ranch celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2013, and its rustic charm and beautiful views of Echo Summit make it a perfect backdrop for the outdoor 'Burlap & Denim' fundraiser.

The fundraiser features many events and activities for the whole family. Walking tours of the historic ranch, provided by descendants of the Celio family at both 12:30 and 2:30, will highlight the ranch's history, operations, and buildings.

Along with the tri-tip there will be salads, baked beans, and desserts will
be served by Bread & Broth volunteers. Wine, beer donated by local breweries, and lemonade will be available. The Grand Timbers Band will be providing toe-tapping live music and line dancing will have everyone up on their feet. Games such as horseshoes, corn hole, outdoor Jenga, and ladder ball will entertain everyone, and horseback rides will be provided for the kids.

A talented horse will perform and entertain throughout the afternoon for the BBQ guests. In addition, the fundraiser will include a silent auction and raffle with generous offerings from many local businesses and restaurants. Memories of the day can be captured at the country western "selfie" booth.

Tickets for the 'Burlap & Denim' fundraiser are $35 for adults, $20 for children, and an additional $10 if you'd like to participate in one of the two Celio Ranch tours (please note, there will be no 'ranch tour only' tickets available).
