Late summer soccer conditioning class added at LTCC

With interest of being on the Lake Tahoe Community College soccer teams on the rise, the school has decided to add a conditioning class to accommodate the big number of both local and international students at the campus.

The men's team, just off their successful inaugural season that landed them a conference championship, had 90 students try out for a place on the team this week, and 60 of them are from other countries. The women’s team is also benefiting from a lot of interest, both from local athletes and abroad.

The new class is designed to improve soccer athletes’ physical conditioning to compete successfully at the intercollegiate level. Emphasis in this new class will be placed on the development of physical fitness levels in strength, endurance, speed, power, agility, and reaction time. Fundamental soccer techniques and game-related strategies will also be addressed.

The course, PEA102A: Sports Techniques & Conditioning Soccer, will meet Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. at the Community Play Fields on Al Tahoe Blvd. starting Mon. August 17 and ending Fri. September 11. Students can either register online at www.ltcc.edu, or in person by visiting LTCC’s new One Stop Enrollment Services office located in the Main Building on campus. For more information on this brand-new course, please contact LTCC’s Instruction Office at (530) 541-4660 ext. 225.
