Ceremony to be held for completion of South Lake Tahoe Bike Trail rehabilitation project

Bike trails in South Lake Tahoe received rehabilitation this summer with $250,000 of funds from Measure R. Trails inside city limits received new paving and are open and ready to ride. Planned restoration of the trails over bridges at Trout Creek and Upper Truckee Meadow are not completed yet and expected to be done this fall.
To celebrate the completion of the 2.6 mile project, a community ribbon cutting ceremony and celebratory bike ride will be held on Friday, September 19 at noon. All community members are invited and encouraged to ride their bicycles. The event will be held at the Rubicon Trailhead located off of Lake Tahoe Blvd. and Rubicon Trail at the end of Rubicon Trail and Macinaw.

The Class 1 Bicycle Trail Rehabilitation project area runs parallel to Highway 50 from Los Angeles Ave. to Motel 6 and the Upper Truckee River (including bridges); one segment on Highway 50 from Helen Avenue to the South "Y" to include the following areas: Harrison Ave. (Los Angeles to Tulare), Rubicon to Tulare, Eloise to Ponderosa, Silver Dollar to Rubicon, and Helen Ave. to South Ave. and Linear Park.
