A 25-year-old Minden man died Saturday in a motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 50 east of the Douglas County line on Spooner, seven miles west of Highway 395 in Carson City, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
According to NHP Trooper Chuck Allen, Edwin Bruno-Mazariego was riding his green 2008 Kawasaki ZX600P motorcycle east bound on the four-lane highway. For reasons still unknown, he failed to negotiate a left hand curve and departed the travel lane striking the adjacent section of guardrail.
Mr. Bruno-Mazariego was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries at the scene. Excessive speed and motorcycle rider inexperience are being looked into as possible contributing factors to the crash, Allen said.
The speed limit on this section of the highway is posted 50 miles per hour and Bruno-Mazariego was wearing safety equipment to include gloves and a helmet, Allen said.
The Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the crash and any witnesses are encouraged to contact Trooper Mike Stapledon at (775) 689-4623 regarding case # NHP-1109-11124.
