In just three days, five cars were reported stolen in South Lake Tahoe.
On Thursday, September 10, a man who lives in the 2400 block of William Avenue called police to report his car stolen. When police arrived, they found out the man had lent the car to someone who hadn't returned it.
The following day, a white Ford F250 with a rack was reported stolen in the 1000 block of William. It has not been recovered and there are no suspects. The Nevada license plate number is NRC917.
Three cars were stolen on Saturday, September 12.
At Domino's Pizza, a woman had arrived in the parking lot on a bicycle and was seen loitering around the front of the business. One of their pizza delivery cars, a white Nissan with the Domino's box on top was parked in the lot at the same time. The woman was seen getting into the Nissan and driving away. Another employee followed her, saw her abandon the car at the corner of O'Malley and Alma Streets, and run away. Police arrived shortly after but the suspect was not found.
She is described as a Caucasian female about 40-years-old with dyed red hair. She is about 5'5" and 120 lbs with tattoo on her left shoulder.
At 1:20 p.m., a business owner in the 2100 block of Ruth Avenue arrived at his business and found the gate to his business parking lot locked but the Honda Accord that was parked inside missing. The owner had parked the car in the lot at 10 a.m. Friday morning. He didn't take that vehicle home at the end of the day and locked the gate to the parking lot when he departed. It is most likely the car was stolen during the day Friday and the owner just didn't notice it missing when he locked up for the night since the padlock on the gate was still locked Saturday morning.
On Tuesday morning, police responded to a report of an abandoned car west of the airport and it turned out to be the missing Honda. No suspects are identified at this time.
During the week there were also four bicycle thefts reported.
A 1967 Chevy Camero convertible was reported stolen from Brother's Bar on Emerald Bay Road at 3 p.m. CHP is handling that case.
