September snow around Lake Tahoe - Rain and some sun in the forecast

SOUTH TAHOE NOW, Calif. - There was a blast of winter-like weather around the Lake Tahoe basin on Monday, but no need to panic if unprepared for snowy conditions.
Temperatures dropped nearly 30 degrees across much of northwestern Nevada and northeastern California since 1:00 p.m. yesterday.
Temperatures well below average with highs mainly in the 60s for lower elevations. This low will keep clouds and shower chances over the region,

From Friday through early next week, an upper ridge off the west coast will bring dry conditions to the region with a steady warming trend through Sunday. A weak shortwave brushing across the northwest US may bring a slight increase in winds Sunday afternoon, otherwise ight winds are expected from Friday through Monday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 61. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 39. Southwest wind around 5 mph.
Wednesday - A 30 percent chance of showers after 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 56. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Wednesday Night - A 50 percent chance of showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 39. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Thursday - A 20 percent chance of showers after 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 54.
Thursday Night - A 20 percent chance of showers before 11pm. Mostly clear, with a low around 35.
Friday - Sunny, with a high near 59.
Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 38.
Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 66.
Saturday Night - Clear, with a low around 42.
Sunday - Sunny, with a high near 68.
Sunday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 44
Sierra-at-Tahoe has not set their opening date for the 2019 ski season but Northstar and Heavenly are scheduled to open on Nov. 22 and Kirkwood on Nov. 27.
