El Dorado County Public housing voucher wait list opens for first time in 8 years

For the first time since 2008, El Dorado County’s Public Housing Authority will open its Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List. The Housing Choice Voucher Rental Assistance Program (formerly known as Section 8) is funded by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and provides rental assistance to income qualified individuals and families. Applicants must be United States citizens or have eligible immigration status.

Applications for the Housing Choice Voucher Program will only be accepted online beginning Monday, October 17, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. through Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. Online applications may be found on the Public Housing Authority’s website, http://www.edcgov.us/HumanServices/Housing/Housing_Choice_Voucher_Program.aspx or directly at: https://www.waitlistcheck.com/application/form.php?ID=1867-CA151. A computer generated lottery will review and select the 500 applications that will comprise the Waiting List.

No paper applications will be accepted. Individuals, families and/or others applying on someone’s behalf may complete an application online using any computer or mobile device with internet access. An email address is required. The following locations are open to the public and have internet access:

Cameron Park Library, 2500 Country Club Drive, Cameron Park

El Dorado Hills Library, 7455 Silva Valley Parkway, El Dorado Hills

Georgetown Library, 6680 Orleans Street, Georgetown

Pollock Pines Library, 6210 Pony Express Trail, Pollock Pines

South Lake Tahoe Library, 1000 Rufus Allen Boulevard, South Lake Tahoe

El Dorado County Connections – One Stop, 3047 Briw Road, Placerville and 3368 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, Suite 102, South Lake Tahoe.

A written request for a reasonable accommodation for assistance with the application must be received by the El Dorado County Public Housing Authority no later than 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Tuesday, October 18, 2016.
