COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another nine residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since Friday. Of those, three are in El Dorado Hills, two in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, two in Greater Placerville, one in South County and two in the Lake Tahoe region. The health officer has not given a reason for the discrepancy of numbers of reported cases not matching the regional totals.

Of these new cases, five are in the 18-49 age group, one in the 50-64 group, three aged 65 or over.

Another 384 people were tested for the coronavirus and 375 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 14 assumed recoveries. There are currently no COVID-19 patients hospitalized at Barton or Marshall hospitals and no suspected cases of COVID-19 in the hospital.

There have been four deaths in the county since the pandemic started.

El Dorado County is currently in the red/substantial tier of reopening but very close to moving to the orange tier. To move to the orange/moderate tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be four per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than five percent for the previous two weeks. See more HERE.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 1.4 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 31 (-5). No county regions are in the High Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater), South Lake Tahoe and half the county (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). The other half (4 regions) are in the low range (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).
