Submitted by paula on Tue, 09/23/2014 - 9:02pm
The 20th Annual Street Vibrations motorcycle rally is scheduled for September 24-28. The primary events will be located in Reno and Sparks but other events are scheduled in Carson City, Virginia City and Lake Tahoe. Organizers are expecting between 50,000 and 100,000 participants and with the influx of visitors to the area, the number of traffic related issues are expected to increase.
Extra patrols will be on the roads throughout the Reno-Sparks and surrounding areas that will host events associated with Street Vibrations. The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will be utilizing the permanent reader board signs on I-80 westbound at Vista Boulevard and I-80 eastbound at Mogul advising motorists of congested traffic, safety tips, alternate routes and temporary road closures.
Extra caution on the roadway is urged because of all the extra motorcycle traffic expected. The Nevada Highway Patrol is urging caution when sharing the highway with more motorcycles than usual. As for the motorcyclists know the laws as they pertain to motorcycles. Be safe and always take a second look before pulling out into traffic.
