Letter: LTCC Board of Trustee candidate Mike Marini outlines qualifications

Dear Residents of South Lake Tahoe and Meyers:

My name is Mike Marini and I would like your vote for the position of Trustee for District V on the Board of Trustees for Lake Tahoe Community College.

Here is some information about me so you can understand why I'm the best choice when you mark your ballots this fall.

Living in South Lake Tahoe: I have been a local resident for over 40 years. My father built a cabin in the forest above Camp Richardson in a special place. My family and I spent as much time as possible here; while I raised my son and managed a career in the San Francisco Bay Area (Solano county). Since my retirement seven years ago I have lived here full time.

Why am I well qualified? For over 35 years I was a leader and manager in the development and operation of a hospital system (two hospitals and outpatient clinics in Solano County). I gathered a team of managers and staff and over time we grew a small hospital into a much larger dual hospital system. We had over 2400 employees, a budget of $340 million dollars, and became the best, and most popular, health system in Solano, Napa counties. In addition, during my career I spent some time as a Credentialed Teacher in a small school district and subsequently became the Chief Financial Officer in a nearby school district.

My Academics: I hold two masters degrees, one MBA from the Medical College of Virginia and an MBA in School Business from the University of Southern California, a bachelors degree in business from UC Berkeley (Haas College), and a Teaching Credential.

What I've learned: I am a change agent. I love life; and like to do constructive things that benefit the people and community in which I live. I am very good at strategic planning, and equally important, implementation. Also of note; I have very strong financial skills in both analysis and evaluation. I understand the story that is in a financial statement.

Finally, I am a people person. I listen well and relate easily to people of all walks of life.

This is your Community College! We should be exceeding and anticipating your needs
and desires. It is important we never forget that focus.

I would appreciate your support and a favorable vote.

Thank you,
Mike
