Good Samaritans and driver killed on Mt. Rose Highway

Three Reno residents are dead and one is in the hospital with serious injuries after a Saturday night crash on State Route 431, the Mt. Rose Highway.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on November 10, the Nevada Highway Patrol responded to reports of a head-on crash on the Mt. Rose Highway (State Route 431) at Thomas Creek Road.

Investigators have released their preliminary report which states a silver 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickup was traveling eastbound on SR-431 in the left lane when its bumper struck the left front of a green and tan 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis sedan that was traveling westbound.

The crash caused both vehicles to come to a rest in both the center turn lane and westbound travel lanes.

Two good Samaritans, both traveling in separate vehicles, came upon the collision scene just moments later and stopped to provide assistance. They were on the driver side of the Tacoma when a white 2002 GMC Yukon SUV traveling westbound steered to the left and crashed into the Tacoma, which then struck both of the good Samaritans.

They were identified as Bryan Wayne Morris, 43, and Rodolfo Manuel Torres, 43. Torres sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene and Morris was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the Marquis, 67-year-old Craig Wells Park, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Impairment is suspected on the part of the unidentified driver of the Toyota Tacoma who sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Yukon was not injured.
