Cold Water Brewery & Grill opens in South Lake Tahoe

Finishing touches are being put on the new Cold Water Brewery & Grill as General Manager Debbie Brown prepares to open this weekend.

Months have been spent remodeling the former Swiss Chalet Restaurant, installing beer brewing equipment, brewing beer, developing a menu and creating a new South Lake Tahoe experience.

On Friday, November 21, the doors officially open at 5 p.m. That night kicks off a week long celebration with raffle giveaways, including lift tickets form Sierra-at-Tahoe, a paddleboard from South Tahoe Standup Paddle, recreation gift certificates form Tahoe Sports / Ski Run Boat Company and many more.

Cold Water Brewery & Grill has been busy brewing their craft beer on site since late September. Their unique take on craft beer classics pays homage to Tahoe & the Sierra with names such as Preacher’s Passion Pale Ale, Mr. Toad’s Wild Rye, Hall of the Gods Porter, Waterhouse Wheat, Tahoe Cross IPA, Cold Water Amber, Still Water Stout and Citra-ass Down IPA .

Cold Water’s menu features “California comfort food” focusing on fresh seasonal ingredients but meant to deliver a hearty punch: Short Rib Cottage Pie, Smoke Trout Tacos, Santa Maria Tri-Tip and Lemon Shandy Roast Chicken.

They will also be featuring a brunch menu as well as the introduction of jazz and bloody mary bar on Sundays starting in December.

Following the grand opening on 11/21/2014, Cold Water Brewery & Grill’s hours will be:
Monday – Thursday: 11:00 am to 11:00 pm
Friday – Saturday 11:00 am to 1: 00 am
Sunday: 9:30 am to 10:00 pm
Sunday Brunch: 9:30 am to 2:00 pm
Weekday Happy Hour: 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Weekend Late Night Snacks: 10:00 pm to 1:00 am
