Kudos: Bread & Broth thanks Kirkwood Mountain Resort

It’s a bit of a drive for Kirkwood Mountain Resort team members to travel to South Lake Tahoe to volunteer at a Bread & Broth Monday Meal dinner at St. Theresa Grace Hall, however, it is a trip that the Kirkwood folks gladly make. Every other month 4-5 Kirkwood team members participate in Kirkwood’s Adopt A Day of Nourishment and join the B&B volunteers in serving the members of the Lake Tahoe South Shore community. Often there is a waiting list of Vail folks who want to come help at the B&B dinners.

On November 5, making the trip to Grace Hall were Sarah Ackerson, Jacob Klade, Jarret Morgan, Christian Neville, and Mike Scalzo. This very engaging and fun group helped served the 87 guests who came hungry to the dinner, and left very full, thanks to the hearty beef stroganoff & noodle dinner that was served with roasted veggies, green salad, berry salad and lots of pies, cakes and cookies for dessert. The $300 Adopt-A-Day sponsorship donation, made possible by Vail’s EpicPromise grant, helps cover the majority of the costs associated with feeding 80-110 folks who attend the weekly Monday evening dinner.

“It’s always amazing to come down to South Lake Tahoe to assist with a Bread & Broth meal,” commented Jacob. “It gives all of us hope and a sense of community to participate.” Helping the poor and others in need of assistance, is a very emotional experience, and says much about how both the B&B volunteers and the sponsor volunteers give so freely without expecting anything in return. Kudos to Vail and Kirkwood Mountain Resort for their efforts to provide food for those struggling with hunger.
