Cold Week Ahead in Lake Tahoe With More Snow By the Weekend Expected

Keep the cold weather clothes out as winter makes it's presence known. There is an expected low of -7 degrees tonight in South Lake Tahoe and a week of below freezing daytime highs before another system comes through on Friday night.
Snow levels will remain at the Nevada Valley floors on Friday and Saturday. A foot of snow is possible above 7,000 feet with several inches at lake level. The snow is expected by early evening on Friday and continuing into Saturday morning.
Expect the cold temperatures to continue as this next system will be followed by extremely cold lows. At parts of the Sierra an overnight low of -20 is forecast by the National Weather Service.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 24 and a low of -7.
Thursday: Mostly sunny with a high near 26, wind chill near -20, low of 6.
Friday: 40% chance of snow during the day, high near 26. Snow accumulation of less than one inch expected. In the evening, lows will be near 15 and chance of snow is 90%. New snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.
Saturday: A 40% chance of snow, mostly cloudy with a high of 25. Little or no snow accumulation. The low will be around 1.
Sunday: Sunny with a high near 28.
