Scouts give treats to their Hometown Heroes, Douglas County Sheriff's Office

Carson Valley Cub Scouts Pack 33 presented Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini with treats for the deputies on patrol, jail and investigative personnel.

“I am delighted that you all came by to see us and we want to thank you for all the hours of hard work that you did to bring us these treats for us," said Sheriff Pierini. "You are our heroes because you thought of us and did this for us.”

The scouts hear money through popcorn sales to the community each year so they can honor their Hometown Heroes. This year, Pack 33 selected Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) as the Hometown Hero agency to be recognized. As evidenced by the number of bags popcorn delivered by the Pack to DCSO, there are many community members who appreciate their Hometown Heroes.

Some of the uniformed Cub Scout members, which are 10-years-old and younger, thanked the uniformed DCSO members telling them “Thank you for catching the people who are breaking the law and keeping us safe in Douglas County.”

Cub Scouting is a program of the Boy Scout of America and it a family oriented program designed to give an introduction to the youth into Boy Scouting. The programs are designed for the youth to build character, responsibility and citizenship.

While the Cub Scouts were visiting with the deputies, sergeants and captains of DCSO, some expressed interest in becoming a sworn officer and the friendship between the generations began growing.
