DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - A Carson City woman died after being struck by a SUV on US-395 early Saturday morning.
At approximately 6:20 a.m., troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian in the area of Cradebaugh Bridge and Stephanie Way in Douglas County.
The NHP preliminary investigation shows a female sitting in the right front passenger seat inside a black Dodge Ram pickup attempted to exit the northbound vehicle as it was in motion. The driver stopped on the outside shoulder of US-395 and the woman exited the vehicle and ran across both northbound travel lanes.
The woman, identified as 49-year-old Erica McGann, began walking southbound in the northbound left-hand travel Lane. She was wearing dark-colored clothing and was almost hit by two vehicles.
A black 2004 Chevrolet Suburban SUV traveling northbound on US-395 north of Stephanie Way in the left-hand travel lane did not see McGann and hit her. The driver of the Suburban applied their brakes and brought the vehicle to a stop in the left turn lane.
McGann succumbed to the injuries she sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is seeking any witnesses to this crash. If you were a witness to this incident, or have any information regarding this collision, please contact Trooper Chris Amadis of the Nevada Highway Patrol at 775-684-7381 or camadis@dps.state.nv.us. Refer to NHP Case #181201273.
