It's not everyday that you see a high school coach reach the milestone of 700 coaching victories, but Whittell High School's Phil Bryant has done just that. The dual varsity basketball and football coach, Bryant led his basketball team to a win on December 11, making it the 700th time teams he was coaching had a victory.
Since that date, the Warriors have posted wins against Mammoth 72-44, Lee Vining 75-37, Loyalton 74-47, Pyramid Lake 50-46 and Coleville 73-22, bringing Bryant's victory count up to 705.
"700 wins and hundreds of great players who made it all possible," said Bryant in a Facebook post. "Thank you to all the players who were a part of making this happen."
MaxPreps has predicted that the Warriors will take their winning ways all the way to State again and repeat their 2014 championship title.
Next game on tap for Whittell will be on January 6 when they host Sierra Luthern of Carson City. The 7:30 p.m. game will be held at the Warrior's gym located at 240 Warrior Way in Zephyr Cove.
