Countdown to SnowGlobe: Safety and noise information

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIF. - This year's SnowGlobe may seem to be the loudest one yet as there is no snow on the ground to absorb the sound. There was a year without much snow at the venue, but with no snow at the South Lake Tahoe venue we'll have to wait and see just how loud music from the three-day festival will be. SnowGlobe runs from December 29-31.

The City of South Lake Tahoe is operating a hot line during all three days. Those with concerns or issues may leave a message and the City staff assigned to the phones will monitor each and every one throughout the festival. That number is (530) 542-6001.

There have already been many complaints about the City's decision to close portions of Al Tahoe Boulevard during the concert hours. From one hour before each show and until each hour afterward, Al Tahoe will be closed from just north of Murrieta Drive to just south of Johnson Boulevard.

Protection measures for the safety of residents and attendees was the driving force behind the decision, according to Tracy Sheldon, the City's Public Information Officer.

Shuttle buses will be dropping off festival attendees inside Bijou Community Park so they'll have to cross Al Tahoe to get to the concert. The SnowGlobe offices are also in the park this year and officials and musicians will have to cross over the road several times a show.

Cars being kept away from the concert also helps to prevent those wanting to plow through crowds away from the scene.

For those dropping off concert goers, a new lane is being set up to run from the Johnson Blvd. Government Center to South Tahoe Middle School. People will pull into the right lane and drop off safely, then the cross light can be used to get to the SnowGlobe venue.

An officer will be placed at each end of the closure.

Being prepared for the winter is still necessary even though daytime temperatures will be in the 50s. Night time lows will be in the 20s so layers are suggested to have the biggest protection against the cold. Hats, gloves and warm foot wear are needed.

Those attending SnowGlobe will find helpful information on their free app, available here: http://snowglobemusicfestival.com/app-dl. It will list times, artists, contests, updates and playlists.
