An Incline Village man is behind bars Friday after being involved in a two-hour standoff with deputies from the Washoe County Sheriff's Office at a residence on Winding Way.
At 10:45 a.m., deputies were called out to the home on a call of a family disturbance, and that 28-year-old Shane Donovan had barricaded himself in a bedroom and was acting extremely erratically.
Donovan voiced threats against himself and law enforcement officers on the scene. He further indicated that he may have rigged the entry way to the room with explosives.
The Parole and Probation Division of the Nevada Department of Public Safety had recently issued a warrant for Donovan’s arrest for parole violations.
Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies successfully concluded the standoff when negotiators were able to talk the subject into surrendering at 1:05 p.m. without further incident. For the safety of the public and responding deputies, the Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Hostage Negotiation teams had been deployed prior to the end of negotiations.
No explosives were found during a subsequent sweep of the residence.
Donovan was transported to the Carson City Sheriff’s Detention Facility where he will be booked on the Parole and Probation warrant.
