South Lake Tahoe Grow House Burglarized: Suspect Arrested and Officer Injured During Pursuit

South Lake Tahoe Police officers responding to 911 calls about a male breaking into a Bonanza Avenue residence on Tuesday ended up in a pursuit of an armed suspect. He was arrested and one officer was injured.

When officers arrived at the residence they saw the suspected burglar and gave chase to the suspect, who was carrying bags of stolen items from the residence.

The chase took them through yards and over a fence to a meadow near D Street and Highway 50. The suspect then attempted to pull a gun from his waistband but lost control of the 9 mm semiautomatic weapon.

Pierre Herring Promoted to South Lake Tahoe Police Sergeant

Officer Pierre Herring of the South Lake Tahoe Police Department has been promoted to Sergeant, it was announced Friday. Police Chief Brian Uhler promoted Herring after a vacancy was created by the retirement of 27 year veteran Sergeant Brad Williams.

Police Seek Public's Help in Finding South Lake Tahoe Woman

South Lake Tahoe Police are looking for Ruth Anne Scudder who hasn't been seen since Tuesday morning when she left her Lakeview Avenue home.

Scudder has moderate mental retardation which may affect her judgement. She also speaks slowly.

Police said she frequents BlueGo bus services for transportation.

She is described as being 5'4" with blonde hair, blue eyes and weighs 135 pounds. It is unclear what clothing she was wearing when she left her residence.

Placerville Man Arrested in Sexual Predator Case

A 26 year old Placerville, CA man is in custody at the El Dorado County Jail after allegedly trying to groom a 15 year old boy for sex.

On Monday, April 14th, the boy reported to the Sheriff’s Office in Placerville that he had received sexually suggestive and descriptive text messages from an unknown 26 year old male, who identified himself as Glenn Coco. The text messages described the man's sexual desires for the 15 year old.

South Lake Tahoe Man Arrested in Shooting

A shooting Wednesday in the Bijou area of South Lake Tahoe led to the arrest of 22 year old Angelo Anderson.

Police officers responded to multiple reports of a man discharging shots at a moving vehicle as it traveled on Fawn Way, which is located between Highway 50 and Glenwood Way.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department has identified 49 year old Randy Breeton as the pedestrian killed while trying to cross Highway 50 during the evening on New Year's Day.

An unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a SUV in front of Whiskey Dicks and the Town and Country Center Wednesday night around 8 pm.

The SUV was being driven eastbound on Highway 50 by 19 year old local Uriel Ortiz. Ortiz was not under the influence and appeared to be driving the speed limit.

El Dorado County Sheriffs Trying to Reunite Recovered Property With Owners

Throughout recent months El Dorado County Sheriff's Office detectives have been investigating an increasingly high volume of residential burglaries. As previously released, four suspects were arrested related to burglaries. One of those suspects was Gary Joseph Masse who was paroled in July 2013 after serving prison time for a previous burglary conviction.

El Dorado County Sheriff's Department Seeks Help in Finding Missing Girl

11/12/13 update: The El Dorado County Sheriffs Department is reporting that Juliet Riffey was found on Monday, 11/11 after receiving a 911 call. The caller had reported seeing Riffey in the Cameron Park area and have classified the situation as a voluntary runaway. No other details are available.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating an At-Risk Runaway Juvenile, Juliet Riffey.

Assault Victim Able to Describe Assailant

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the physical assault on a South Lake Tahoe woman that was originally reported in Alpine County on October 6, 2013. The victim has now determined that the assault occurred in the vicinity of Meyers, South Lake Tahoe. Details of the original account have changed, possibly due in part to the injuries the victim suffered in the violent physical attack.

Attempted bank robbery at El Dorado Savings

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is requesting assistance from the public to help identify a suspect, who attempted to rob the El Dorado Savings Bank located at 3443 Lake Tahoe Blvd, in the Bijou Shopping Center, at about 3:30 this afternoon.

UPDATE: Missing Teen No Longer in the South Lake Tahoe Area

UPDATE: This afternoon (Friday, July 19, 2013) the South Lake Tahoe Police Department received word from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department in South Carolina that their investigation has confirmed Autumn Ellison has returned to South Carolina.

She has not yet been recovered. Nevertheless, South Carolina officials are confident she is no longer in our area. Investigators from South Carolina expressed their appreciation to our local media and public for their attention to this matter.

Police: South Lake Tahoe man confesses to El Dorado Savings Bank robbery

A 29-year-old South Lake Tahoe man has confessed to the March 7 robbery of El Dorado Savings Bank, South Lake Tahoe police confirm.

Paul Cortez was arrested by Reno police and booked into Washoe County Jail where he will be transferred to South Lake Tahoe and booked into El Dorado County Jail. Police say he confessed to details about the robbery and how much money was taken.

El Dorado County authorities make arrest in attempted murder, kidnapping case

A man wanted by El Dorado County authorities in connection with a kidnapping and attempted murder was arrested Tuesday after deputies chased him for 23 minutes over 16 miles.
Dustin James Woodruff, born July 29, 1985, is suspected of shooting and beating Bryan Santana, 35, of Placerville on July 2, 2012, said El Dorado County Lt. Tim Becker in a news release.

South Lake Tahoe police arrest juveniles in burglary and vandalism spree

On Sept. 7, the South Lake Tahoe Police responded to a radio call of a burglary which had occurred at an art supply store in the City of South Lake Tahoe. During the investigation officers were advised that cash and approximately $3000 worth of spray paint and markers had been stolen.
On Sept. 8, victims of vandalism began calling the Police Department to report that buildings, signs and vehicles had been tagged with graffiti.

South Lake Tahoe police arrest man on felony charges; stolen Lexus, wristwatch recovered

A 25-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested and faces felony burglary and drug charges after a chase Monday that went from South Lake Tahoe across the state line.
Deonte Brown is suspected of stealing, among other things, a 2002 Lexus convertible from a Zephyr Cove home, South Lake Tahoe authorities said. He was booked into Douglas County Jail.

Authorities ask for help in locating family of twin elderly South Lake Tahoe sisters found dead

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in locating family members of elderly twins, Patricia and Joan Miller, 73, who were found dead in their South Lake Tahoe home on February 26. The nature of their deaths hasn't been determined, however, foul play has been ruled out, said Sheriff's Lt. Bryan Golmitz. Autopsy provides no new details in local woman's death; investigation continues

Investigators have no new leads in the case of a South Lake Tahoe woman whose remains were found in southern Washington state in early October. The cause of death remains undetermined after an autopsy was performed.
In July, 54-year-old Marie Hanson traveled with a neighbor to the Rainbow Gathering, a countercultural event emphasizing peace and love. She was last seen on July 7, then disappeared, leaving all her personal effects behind.
