This season of giving is more important than ever, as our community faces complex challenges brought on by the pandemic. To help provide additional financial resources in response to the pandemic, the COVID-19 Response Fund is the beneficiary of the Barton Foundation’s 30th Annual Gala, held virtually this year beginning November 30 through December 11, 2020 at BartonHealth.org/Gala.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care (LTWC) has moved their annual Wild & Free Gala to a virtual format this year, and it's free to hop on and learn about how everyone can help the nonprofit raise funds to keep operations going.

On Tuesday, October 20, 2020, the event starts at 7:00 p.m. but entertaining and informational preshow festivities start at 6:30 p.m.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - To celebrate the 5th year of The Tahoe Women’s Community Fund (TWCF), a record $125,000 will be granted to the South Shore Community this spring.

The 212 members of TWCF contributed to the fund and Lisa Maloff made another generous donation. The $125k they will be giving to the community through grants is 49 percent higher than last year.

Members vote where the grants will be focused and they've added a new category this year, the Inspiration Grant.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The designer holiday-themed trees have filled the room all weekend at the Barton Health Festival and Trees & Lights. There is still one day left for the public to view them as the annual event wraps up on Sunday, December 8.

All of the trees are beautiful and it was a tough decision by a group of community judges to come up with winners of five distinguished categories.

Child Advocates of El Dorado is holding their annual gala on Saturday, November 2 starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Serrano Country Club in El Dorado Hills. Funds raised during this special evening help support their services in the county, including South Lake Tahoe.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Tahoe Women’s Community Fund has announced their 2019 grant recipients. This year, there were over 27 organizations who applied for the grants, with $84,000 being distributed to 14 non-profit organizations

Live Violence Free would like to thank everyone who came out and contributed to the Tacofestivus Fundraiser on Tuesday, December 4. We were overwhelmed by the amount of people who come out to celebrate and support our organization.

Each year Azul Latin Kitchen’s staff chooses a community organization as their beneficiary and Live Violence Free was honored to have been chosen for 2018. In addition to their contribution with the Tacofestivas event, they donated $1 for every Blue Burrow drink purchased and were one of the strongest supporters for our Annual Gala Fundraiser.

Live Violence Free is holding their 19th annual Sunset Gala on the rooftop of Harveys on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.

There will be music from Midtown Social with dancing and salsa lessons, wine, beer, Hors d'oeuvres, desserts, raffles, silent auction and their signature "Wall of Whiskey" and "Wall of Wine."

The benefit will be raising funds to continue the non-profit agency's efforts of promoting a violence free community through education and advocacy to address domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and basic needs.

The Tahoe Women’s Community Fund has invited the community to join them at their annual Grants Gala to celebrate the 2018 grant recipients as $68,000 is distributed to 13 non-profit organizations in the South Shore community.

The evening will also feature short presentations from the 2017 grantees on how they spent the collective funding this past year.

The grand hall at MontBleu Casino Resort has been turned into a holiday paradise, a winter wonderland with the main attraction being the specialty Christmas trees.

On Thursday, local celebrities and media strolled by each of the designer trees, selecting those that won top honors of Most Elegant, Best Theme, Most Creative and Best of Show.

The excellent work on each made it almost impossible to come up with a winner, but four were chosen after much deliberation. Each tree will be paired with a special prize package during a live auction at Saturday's Gala.

The Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce (Tahoe Chamber) is holding their annual Blue Ribbon Awards dinner on Thursday, November 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Harrah's Lake Tahoe Ballroom. This gala event honors businesses, organizations, and individuals for civic contributions, tourism experiences, customer service, and entrepreneurial achievements. Dawgs on the Run, a South Lake Tahoe non-profit focused on providing educational information and resources for responsible pet care, is holding their inaugural Black Tie Gala on Saturday, September 9 at 5:30 p.m. at Lakeside Beach House.

Dogs are encouraged to come in formal wear for the gala which will feature the awarding of a grant to a selected local dog nonprofit, announcement of the 'Who is The Tahoe Dog?' winner, and contests for dogs including Doggy Karaoke, Peanut Butter Lick, Best Black Tie Wear.

Ms. Lisa Maloff continues to impact the South Shore in a remarkable way. On May 18, 2017, Ms. Maloff gave a remarkable gift to the Tahoe Women’s Community Fund (TWCF). During the spring gala, which focused on the theme of impact, Ms. Maloff was able to experience the loving warmth in the room after her surprise gift of $100,000 was announced. The standing ovation that she received was only a small symbol of the gratitude that was felt by the membership. The night was filled with immense hope for the future of South Lake Tahoe. The Tahoe Women's Community Fund will be holding their second annual Grants Gala on Thursday, May 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Tahoe Beach Retreat. They will be awarding grants to their 2017 recipients and hearing back from their 2016 winners on how their funds were put to use.

The Tahoe Women’s Community Fund is a collective giving organization that was created in 2015. Members donate money and then through a simple grant making process, proceeds are awarded to nonprofits that address pressing issues facing the communities of Lake Tahoe.

While the top women’s alpine ski racers in the world prepare to descend on Squaw Valley March 10-11 for the Audi FIS Women’s World Cup Giant Slalom and Slalom races, another group of seasoned competitors will also be setting their sights on the California resort with the addition of the Toyota ProAm Ski Challenge to the weekend’s festivities.

Join South Tahoe High's Performing and Visual Arts Booster Association this Saturday, December 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for their annual PABA Gala, just before the evening's performance of White Christmas.

Ring in the holiday spirit at Barton Health’s eighth annual Festival of Trees & Lights. The winter celebration features events and entertainment starts Thursday, December 1 and continues through Sunday, December 4 at MontBleu Resort on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe.

“The Festival of Trees & Lights provides a warm and family-friendly atmosphere to inspire people to get into the spirit of holiday giving,” says Kindle Craig, the director of the Barton Foundation. “All the money raised goes back into the community and supports health and wellness programs.”

"Krista's Cause" won top honors at the 7th annual Cocktails for a Cause held on September 21 at the Riva Grill, a drink created in honor of South Lake Tahoe local Krista Kline Carson, who is fighting brain cancer with treatments in Germany.

Gary Gamprie and James Olson of LewMarNel’s Steaks & Spirits received the honor for their mauve fruit smoothie. Their drink will be featured as the signature cocktail at the Barton Foundation’s 25th annual Gala at the Festival of Trees & Lights in December.

Each year, Live Violence Free brings together members and leaders of the community to strengthen their capacity to uphold their mission of promoting a violence free community through education and advocacy to address domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse, and basic needs. With the support of our donors and community members, they host their annual Sunset Gala to build resiliency and resources for clients and families. This year is the agency's 17th Annual Sunset Gala, held at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course on Sunday, October 23 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
