Fire at South Lake Tahoe home had marijuana grow operation

South Lake Tahoe Fire Department responded early Sunday morning to a house fire at Carson and Armstrong avenues where there was a marijuana grow operation.

According to a news release, all three South Tahoe Fire engines and both medic units were committed at the fire scene, reported at 12:30 a.m. The fire was knocked down quickly so both primary and secondary searches were completed with no victims found and overhaul began.

Liberty Energy and Southwest Gas responded to secure the utilities and SLTFD was able to shut down the
water to the house.

The South Lake Tahoe City Council made appointments to various Boards and Commissions for 2013 at Tuesday's meeting. Mayor Tom Davis will serve on the following boards: California Tahoe Conservancy, City Selection Committee, TahoeChamber.org, Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority, and South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce.

Tahoe Regional Young Professionals January Mixer at Himmel Haus

Prost (or cheers), the Tahoe Regional Young Professionals will ring in 2013 with a sampling of German-style food and beverages at Himmel Haus for group's Jan. 22 mixer from 7 – 10 p.m.

The evening will also include live acoustic music and networking opportunities. Admission is free for TRYP members and $5 for non-members. Annual TRYP memberships cost $40.

Lake Tahoe Young Professionals Raised $5,000 at Annual Winter White Holiday Party

The holidays will be a little brighter for more than 100 underprivileged local children/teenagers thanks to Tahoe Regional Young Professionals (TRYP) raising $5,000 at the organization’s 2nd Annual Winter White Holiday Party.

The Young Professions organized a holiday ‘FUN’draiser to benefit Tahoe’s SkiDUCK, (SKi and snowboarding for Disabled and Underprivileged Children and older Kids) at Riva Grill last month which included an evening of live music, raffle prizes, silent auction items, photo booth, games, food and drinks.
