South Lake Tahoe Sheriff's Team of Active Retirees Chooses New Station Leader

El Dorado Co. Sheriff's Department in South Lake Tahoe sponsors and supports activities of Sheriff's Team of Active Retirees. In a recent election held during the S.T.A.R. Station Meeting at South Lake Tahoe's Senior Center,
retiring 3 year term Station Leader Dick Young was replaced by Richard Thomson of Thomson's Insurance. Assisting Thomson are past Station Leaders Dick Young and George Schultz.

Other members, each holding specific job titles include Barbara Aragon, Jan and Ernie Claudio, Susan Kidwell, Mary Magana, Bill Sluka, Kay Taylor and Joan Young.

Snow Way! First storm of the season lands at Lake Tahoe

Monday morning has brought the first winter snow of the season to Lake Tahoe and the Sierra. Light to moderate snow is being reported this morning throughout the basin. The National Weather Service calls for 10 to 18 inches above 7,000 feet and 4 to 8 inches at lake level. A winter storm warning runs through Tuesday morning.

Costume contests, games, local business booths and a Tahoe-style chili cook-off are on tap Saturday, Oct. 27 with the South Lake Tahoe Harvest Festival.
Who makes the best chili in town? Taste, pick and vote for your favorite at the festival, a great way for locals to come together before winter begins. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Complex, 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe.
