Winter returns this morning with a quick moving storm with Snow Showers on top and Mixed Precipitation at the bottom reported by most resorts. Strong Winds are affecting the operation of Upper Mountain Lifts and should subside by afternoon… Wear your Gortex Jacket & take the Orange or Rose Tinted Goggles… Spring Events kicking in this week… Heavenly is hosting Gunbarrel 25 this Saturday & Sierra at Tahoe hosting “Dual on Dynamite” on Sunday… Come out and hits the bumps and join me as I announce these annual event… Have Fun & Be Safe!

TODAY’S WEATHER (NWS GREATER LAKE TAHOE AREA): Expect Showers and isolated thunderstorms in the morning, then scattered snow showers in the afternoon. Snow accumulation up to 3 inches. Highs: 38F to 43F. Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Ridge gusts up to 95 mph decreasing to 60 mph in the afternoon.

WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT THIS EVENING…
* Timing: Winds will increase this morning with the strongest winds expected from mid morning through early this afternoon.
* Winds: West to northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Sierra ridge gusts up to 95 mph.
* Waves on Lake Tahoe: 2 to 4 feet. Highest waves on eastern and southern shores.
* Impacts: Strong crosswinds will produce hazardous travel conditions for high profile vehicles. Expect turbulence and areas of wind shear for aviation. Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Now is the time to secure loose outdoor items such as patio furniture and trash cans before winds increase which could blow these items away. The best thing to do is prepare ahead of time by making sure you have extra food and water on hand, flashlights with spare batteries and/or candles in the event of a power outage.

TONIGHT: Mostly Cloudy with isolated snow showers in the evening, then partly cloudy after midnight. Lows: 19F to 29F. North winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Ridge gusts up to 80 mph.

FRIDAY: Partly Cloudy in the morning then clearing. Highs: 44F to 54F. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Ridge gusts up to 95 mph decreasing to 80 mph in the afternoon.

WHAT TO WEAR: Dress in layers with your Gore-Tex Jacket or outer Shell. Take a hat or beanie and wear a Helmet for Safety. Also wear Orange or Rose tinted Goggles. Don’t forget to use Sunscreen & Chapstick when the sun is out and Stay Hydrated at altitude!

SAFETY MESSAGE: Stay on designated Opened Trails only. Keep an Eye Out for Marked and Unmarked Obstacles. Slow Down and observe safety signs on trails with high concentration of skiers and riders… Know the Code! Do not Ski or Ride above your ability level… Always stay in control. Be able to avoid objects and people in your Path! Please stop to side of the run where it is safe and always check uphill for skiers and riders before restarting down hill. If you go off-piste, always ski & ride with a buddy!
