Family activities all day long on July 4th in South Lake Tahoe

Well before the fireworks are set off above Lake Tahoe at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, families will be able enjoy a plethora of activities along the South Shore.

The day starts off with the Annual South Lake Tahoe 4th of July Parade at 10 a.m. The procession will start at the SLT Recreation Center, to Highway 50 and down to Cardinale Way past the "Y." It will be over by 11 a.m.

The Beach Retreat at Tahoe (formerly the Timber Cove Lodge) will have a family friendly 4th of July celebration starting at noon. Local favorite Alex Ramon returns to South Lake Tahoe with his magic and illusion (formerly of Illusion Fusion). He will be thrilling the audience as he attempts to escape from an underwater box. There will be giveaways all day, DJs, a bar for those over 21, a concert. The beach is then open for everyone to watch the fireworks from.

This hotel is also having a private barbecue dinner and fireworks viewing from their pier for $75/person. Without dinner it is $25/person or $15/person for hotel guests.

The Lake Tahoe Historical Museum is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free admission and there are movies about the early settlers, artifacts and more. Stop by at 3058 Lake Tahoe Blvd near the Senior Center.

There will be a car and motorcycle show at the Heavenly Village all day. Fresh off their performance at Thursday's Live at Lakeview is Tuba Luba, a brass band who will be performing at the Village in front of Azul from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Taylor Creek Visitor's Center and Tallac Historic Site will have activities all day for families. Don Lane will be at the Visitor's Center at 10 a.m. to lead a day of fun for all.

People can enjoy paddle boarding and kayaking at all the local beaches with several rental businesses in town. Bike rentals are always fun, especially when the roads will be so full of cars.

There is a craft show at South Tahoe Middle School all day.
