SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The threat of the novel coronavirus and COVID-19 is a scary one for all people, especially the more vulnerable citizens of the community including senior citizens.

The South Lake Tahoe Senior Center is closed but nutrition services are being provided on a "to go" basis. Those 60 and older can stop by Monday through Friday between 11:00 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. and get a hot meal to go for a $3 suggested donation. Their Meals on Wheels program serves about 80 seniors with hot meals delivered Monday through Friday.

Dance the night away to the fabulous music by Fabrizio on Saturday, February 15 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. It's a party with classic rock, line dances, West Coast swing and more, and all ages are invited!

The dance will be in the newly remodeled Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd. The cost is $12 at the door; $10 to members of Seniors, Inc.

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - What do you get when you mix two angels with a comic on morning radio in Lake Tahoe? Daily cash giveaways that can turn an ordinary day into something magical.

It started on November 7, 2018. Ricky Reich, a local man who has become known as "The Angel of Tahoe's Guardian," walked into the studios of KRLT-FM on Kingsbury Grade in Stateline, Nevada. He had been listening to Howie Nave's Morning Rush shown on the station and wanted to pay homage to Lisa Maloff, the Angel of Tahoe.

Did you sing in school? Do you sing in the shower? Are you interested in being part of a chorus? Then join the Tahoe Community Choir as they begin their 49th year in South Lake Tahoe. They start its fall season under new leadership on Tuesday, September 10 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

Rehearsals will be every Tuesday evening until their holiday performances the first weekend in December.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - In honor of Mrs. Lisa Maloff's numerous contributions to our community, today the South Lake Tahoe City Council officially renamed a street after her, and issued a proclamation.

In this proclamation, the City extended to Lisa and Robert "Bob" Maloff their appreciation and gratitude for the numerous donations made to the local community. Her philanthropic donations have forever changed the community and her donations
throughout the medical, education, field sports, and family services will touch generations of Lake Tahoe residents.

We are Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church. This is a letter to our community to say that we are still here. Yes, there was a fire that damaged our building but not “the church” (our congregation). We are currently meeting for worship at Temple Bat Yam on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. Our church continues to thrive, thanks in a large part to the outpouring of love, concern, and support from you, the community of South Lake Tahoe.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It's been over three decades in the making. The US50 South Shore Community Revitalization Project, also known as the Loop Road, is getting closer to becoming a final plan and its implementation.

The South Lake Tahoe City Council heard a presentation by Tahoe Transportation District (TTD), Lew Feldman and John Hasty of Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) on Tuesday, outlining what has been accomplished and what is left to be done.

This month's "Conversation with the Mayor" will focus on public safety in South Lake Tahoe. Everyone is invited to sit down with Mayor Wendy David, SLT Fire Chief Jeff Meston and SLT Police Chief Brian Uhler to discuss both fire and police issues, concerns, successes and status in the community.

Meet at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

Each month during her term, Mayor David has met with local citizens on a variety of subjects in a casual atmosphere.

This month's "Conversation with the Mayor" will focus on transportation in South Lake Tahoe. The public is invited to sit down with Mayor Wendy David and representatives from the League to Save Lake Tahoe and discuss their two transportation initiatives, LimeBike and Chariot.

Meet at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018.

There will also be a general discussion on transportation issues.

This will take place on Wed, July 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center at 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

Each month Mayor David holds themed "Let's Have a Conversation" chats covering a myriad of topics the day after the last City Council meeting of the month.

After a large group participated in the first "Let's Have a Conversation," the City of South Lake Tahoe has changed locations for the February meeting to ensure not only enough space, but to allow for good conversation.

During the January meeting, approximately 30 community members joined Mayor Wendy David and Mayor Pro Tem Tom Davis and brought questions ranging from the recently revised Vacation Home Ordinance to budget questions.

Throughout the month of May 2017 Choices for Children's Healthy Bottom Line Diaper Distribution program hosted the third annual Mother's Day Diaper Drive. We received generous donations from community businesses, child care providers, and agencies. All donations will go directly to helping our community's youngest and most vulnerable residents stay clean, dry and healthy by ensuring they have the diapering supplies that they need.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE – What’s in the future for Social Security and Medicare and how might changes in the Affordable Care Act affect your Medicare coverage?

Those topics will be discussed in a community presentation set for Monday, Feb. 27, at 5:30 p.m. in the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd. The featured speaker, Kathleen Newton, will describe the current structure and financing of the Social Security and Medicare systems and provide information about current Congressional legislative initiatives that may affect both programs.

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. - Its been eight months of scrubbing, painting and planning for Jody Filgo and Sallie Ross-Filgo as they took an old, run down donut shop at the "Y" in South Lake Tahoe and turned it into Rainbow Sprinkles. And now they are ready to serve some happiness.

"I can't wait until I can turn on the lights," said Sallie. The shop will be opening in South Lake Tahoe this Saturday, January 21 at 6:00 a.m.

Medicare Open Enrollment is October 15 through December 7, 2016. This enrollment period is one of the few times Medicare beneficiaries can change, enroll into or disenroll from a Part D drug plan or a Medicare Advantage Plan (such as an HMO). Changes to plans are effective January 1, 2017.

The South Lake Tahoe Senior Center will have a pancake breakfast and rummage sale on Saturday, May 21 at 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd. The breakfast starts at 8:00 a.m. and will end at 11:00 a.m.. The cost is $5 for teens and adults and $3 for children.

The rummage sale will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Rummage sale tables rent for $5 for 1/2 table for Senior Center members ($6 non-members). Full table rentals are $10 for members and $12 for non-members. Call Arlene for a rental space by Friday. Her number is 530-542-6094.

The inaugural Winter Bazaar will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event is open to the public and will feature stocking stuffers, gifts for Hanukkah and Christmas, and small prizes for attending. Food will be offered for sale by Seniors, Inc. The Senior Center is located at 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

The Tahoe Art League preesnts “Change Your Point of View," a demonstration by artist Thaleia Georgiades.

They have invited the public to participate in the demonstration to learn how to add drama and interest to art works through changing your point of view. This dynamic event will be held as part of the league's monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 11, at 6:00 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center. It is free to the public.

The City of South Lake Tahoe invites you to a public meeting for the Harrison Avenue Streetscape Improvement Project. The meeting will be held on Thursday, April 24th from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. and the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center located at 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

South Lake Tahoe seniors have their center back, and there will be a grand re-opening party to welcome them back into their updated home.

The Senior Center,located at 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd, received new paint, new carpet, and heavy cleaning in order for local seniors to be able to use the whole facility including the library, dance floor, offices and other areas formerly used by the county's Mental Health Department.
