Astronomy at Taylor Creek

Join Tahoe Heritage Foundation and the US Forest Service at Taylor Creek Visitor Center for this Friday's Evening Program: Astronomy at Taylor Creek with Fleischmann Planetarium! July 22nd at 8:30 pm at the Lake of the Sky Amphitheater. This event is open to the public and is a $5.00 donation to the Tahoe Heritage Foundation.

Fleischmann Planetarium is part of the University of Nevada Reno and extended studies. Built in 1963, making it the first planetarium in the world to project full dome movies of time-lapse clouds and weather phenomena. The Planetarium offers shows in the dome theater, field trips, and educational outreach in Earth and space science.

At Taylor Creek, director Dan Ruby will be sharing his knowledge of the night sky. Learn to read the current night sky and take a look through the telescope to see planets such as Jupiter and Saturn. We will be heading down to the beach half way through the presentation so be sure to dress warm.

Taylor Creek Visitor Center is located approximately 3 miles north of South Lake Tahoe on the lakeside of Highway 89. The Visitor Center entrance is just past the entrance to the Tallac Historic Site and Fallen Leaf Lake Road. Dogs are permitted only on leash.
