The following is the ski, snowboard and weather report for Wednesday, January 6, 2016 for South Lake Tahoe brought to you by Lake Tahoe SkiBum. Weather - Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 6:00 a.m. Wednesday to 1:00 a.m. Thursday with heaviest snow expected between noon and 8:00 p.m. today. South Lake Tahoe will have a high of 32 and a low tonight of 22. Today: Snow, mainly after 10am. High near 32. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible. Tonight: Snow. Low around 22. West wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Heavenly - Powder/Packed Powder. 3" New Snow in last 24 hours. 99% of their terrain is now open which means 4750 acres, 23 lifts and 96 runs are open. The base depth is 63". Terrain Parks open - Groove (13 features) High Roller (12 features) & Family Cross (9 features) Lift status.Snow likely, mainly after 10am. Cloudy, with a high near 24. Very windy, with a southwest wind 30 to 35 mph increasing to 35 to 40 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Message from Heavenly: We received 3" over the past 24 hours and snow is likely today, mainly after 10:00 am. It will be cloudy, with a high near 24°. Please note: North Bowl and Boulder Lifts are closed for the day. Boulder Lodge and lift will only be open on the weekends/holidays. Today's storm is expected to bring strong winds and gusts, so please stay tuned, as lift operations may be impacted. Weather permitting; 23 lifts are scheduled to spin from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm giving access to over 90 trails, of which nearly 50% were freshly groomed overnight. Our groomers trail picks of the day are High Five in CA and Olympic Downhill in NV!.

Sierra-at-Tahoe - Powder. 15" new snow. 100% of the terrain is now open. 9 lifts are open. Burton Progressive, Bashful and Upper Snowshoe pipes are open. Groomed conditions on 32 of their open 45 runs. Base depth is 44". Lift status. Snow. High near 28. South wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

Kirkwood - Powder/Packed Powder. 10" new snow. 54% of the mountain terrain is open with 1250 acres, 8 lifts and 55 runs. 72" base. Lift status. Snow. High near 28. South wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.
