Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 4 p.m. Saturday.

Weather - South Lake Tahoe will have a high of 38 and a low tonight of 22. Today: Snow showers. High near 38. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. Tonight: Snow likely, mainly before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Heavenly - Powder. 8" New Snow in last 24 hours. 100% of their terrain is open - 4800 acres, 26 lifts and 97 runs are open. Base depth is 75". Lift status. Snow showers. High near 31. Very windy, with a southwest wind 45 to 55 mph decreasing to 35 to 45 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 90 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Message from Heavenly: This storm has brought us 6-10 inches in the last 24 hours. The Nevada side got hit a bit harder than California did over night, but the entire mountain did get a nice layer of at least 6 inches. Today's forecast is calling for cloudy skies and snow showers throughout the day, temps should stay around 26-30°. There will be moderate-strong SW winds and powerful gusts are expected this morning. These winds are expected impact lift operations, the Gondola, Sky and North Bowl will be starting the day on wind hold. Today, you can access the mountain from three of four of our four base locations – The CA Main Lodge, Boulder and Stagecoach Lodge. Weather permitting; 25 scheduled lifts will run from 8:30am-4:00pm, providing access to all 97 Heavenly trails, of which over 50% were freshly groomed overnight. Our groomer’s trail picks of the day are Mombo Meadows in CA and Jacks in NV. Please note- it is currently snowing up on the hill, so expect our groomed runs to have a nice layer of fresh snow this morning. We have both terrain parks open today – Groove (14 features), and High Roller (21 features), including the Family Cross course. Tubing will open at 11:00am at the top of The Gondola. Please note – Mott and Groove lifts will not open until 10:00am.

Sierra-at-Tahoe - Powder. 10" new snow. They will have 12 lifts open with groomed conditions on 31 of their open 43 runs as weather allows. Four snow parks are open. Base depth is 60" to 104". Lift status. Snow showers. High near 31. Breezy, with a southwest wind 23 to 28 mph decreasing to 16 to 21 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Kirkwood - Powder. 14" new snow. 54% of the mountain terrain is open with 1250 acres, 8 lifts and 56 runs. 88" base. Lift status. Snow showers. The snow could be heavy at times. Temperature falling to around 25 by 4pm. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Facebook message from Kirkwood: We will start the day out with snow-safety holds on all front-side lifts 1,5,6,7,9,10 & 11… Respect the closures as our Patrol team and mountain operations crews work their snow-safety routes.
Front-side 8 to open with the back-side lifts 2,3,4 & Vista most likely not opening today as we have another round of snow & wind approaching. Winds are looking SW @25/45mph with gusts in the 45ish+ range, Temperatures 25@the base with 24@the summit…NWS Forecast: Heavy snow will continue early this morning with snowfall rates of around 1" per hour, a general lull is then expected 9/10am to 12/1pm. After 1pm snow fills back in from the WNW and continues through 9/10pm, diminishing to just a few flurries or a few very light snow showers through midnight. Mostly dry conditions then return through the remainder of the night. Additional snow accumulations through Sunday morning through evening look to be 4-6" at the Base and 6-10" above 9000.
