AlertTahoe camera monitoring potential Truckee River flooding in Reno

The University of Nevada Seismological Lab operates around Lake Tahoe and Western Nevada to monitor earthquake and wildfire data, but now they're helping with flood monitoring.

They have placed a temporary camera above the Truckee River at on Arlington Street in Reno. The view is updated every minute and can be seen here: http://floodwatch.nvseismolab.org/

As you can see from the photo, many people are parked along the river and walking along the path to watch the flow of water. The river is forecast to crest around 8:00 p.m. Sunday downtown, and between 2:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday near UNR.

At Sunday at 12:10 p.m., Liberty Utilities reported several power in the Tahoe City, Truckee, West Shore and I-80/Truckee River corridor areas due to multiple power lines that have tripped. Additional problems are expected as wind/rain continue to increase. Their Emergency Operations Center has opened and all crews in the area have been called int to patrol the lines, looking for problems. Priority has shifted from individual service repair to transmission line restoration.

Update at 1:15 p.m. from Liberty Utilities - All of West Shore from Meeks Bay Avenue to the greater Tahoe City region is without power as a result of fallen trees that have downed 3 strands of wire. Hwy 89 is reduced to one lane so our crews can safely make repairs. Estimated restoration is at 9 pm tonight.
