UPDATE: Power was fully restored to the Kingsbury Grade area at around 2:50 p.m., said NV Energy spokesman Karl Walquist. A blackout earlier this morning affected about 5,00 Lake Tahoe customers from Stateline to Cave Rock and both upper and Lower Kingsbury Grade.
UPDATE: Most NV Energy customers in the Stateline and Zephyr Cove areas are back online this morning but about 500 customers in the lower Kingsbury Grade area continue to be without power as of 10:30 a.m., according to NV Energy spokesman Karl Walquist.
The areas affected are from Pony Express to the intersection of Highway 50, Walquist said. The Round Hill substation remains without power and crews have been able to route specific areas to get most of the customers back on line. Power went out at around 5:30 this morning to about 5,000 customers.
UPDATE: About 2,500 customers are without power, and 2,500 are back with power after NV Energy restored some service this morning. About half of the customers with power are in the Zephyr Cove and Round Hill areas. Still out are customers on the bottom of Kingsbury Grade.
An earlier report from NV Energy that the Nevada side of Heavenly Mountain Resort was without power was not correct, Walquist said. Heavenly operates on its own electric system separate from the affected outage area.

About 5,000 NV Energy customers are without power this morning in the Stateline area of Lake Tahoe after a problem at the Round Hill substation near the sewer plant. The outage began at 5:30 a.m. and continues this morning, said NV Energy spokesman Karl Walquist.
The casino core is not affected by the outage but the Nevada side Walquist said. The outage runs from the edge of the casino corridor all the way to Cave Rock and includes Kingsbury Grade.
"Crews have been out there a while trying to figure it out. The power is still out and they are working to identify and restore service. A time has not been established but they are working on it," Walquist said.
