Science of cocktails and memory are subjects of next two TERC talks

The science of cocktails and memory research at the focus of the next two events at the U.C. Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) in Incline Village.

Join Dr. Charan Ranganath to learn about the cutting-edge of human memory research on Thursday, January 18 from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Recent discoveries in neuroscience have revealed significant insights into how we remember and how we can remember better. Evidence shows that the very act of remembering can sometimes help you retain information with important discoveries about why this happens. Research also shows the surprising ways that motivation and curiosity can influence memory. These studies lay the groundwork for practical ways to improve learning and memory in education and possibly in patients with neurological or psychiatric disorders that affect memory.

There is a $5 suggested donation for the evening. Refreshments and no-host bar start at 5:30 p.m., presentation begins at 6:00 p.m.

On Friday, February 2, stir things up at the UC Davis Tahoe Science Center, where mini bars meet big science. Enjoy ten science-themed cocktail stations that double as learning hubs with unique activities and demonstrations for adults. Tickets are $30 for appetizers and two drinks -- additional drinks $5 each. Enjoy the night knowing that all of the proceeds directly support the UC Davis Tahoe Science Center and their innovative science education programs.
