Event Date:
January 28, 2016 - 5:30pm
Is there life on Mars? The Curiosity rover is currently exploring the Gale Crater on Mars and the NASA Mars Science Laboratory team has discovered lake and river deposits that show that ancient Mars was habitable by Earth-like life.
Dr. Dawn Sumner, from UC Davis and the NASA Mars Science Laboratory team, will be speaking in Incline Village at the next UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) talk held on Thursday, January 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Although they have yet to find evidence that life was present, the team will keep searching for evidence of life and exploring the clues to a changing climate on ancient Mars. Dr. Sumner will describe the evidence for ancient lakes and flowing water on Mars as well as what it is like to work on this type of mission.
Registration for this event is required. The program will begin at 6 p.m. with refreshments and no-host bar from 5:30 - 6 p.m. at 291 Country Club Drive in Incline Village (between Tahoe Boulevard/SR 28 and Lakeshore Blvd.) on the campus of Sierra Nevada College.
Seating is open at 5:30 p.m. to guests who have pre-registered, open seating starts at 5:50 p.m., and the program begins at 6:00 p.m. A $5 suggested donation will be collected at the door.
